Concrete Jungle: Berlin, Germany

I have been struggling to explain my experience in Berlin, mainly because it seemed such a chaotic mixture of old and new, harmony and disorder, warmth and horror. But somewhere between this chaos, you realize that there is a reassuring balance.

Balance in the architectural sense, with extremely symmetric features, and very calculated design elements.

Balance in the social aspect, where a night out could mean a quiet show in a hidden, and beautifully lit concert hall, or dancing your heart out to the beats of amazing DJs and to that of the rising sun over the Spree river.

Balance from a cultural standpoint, where street art and historical landmarks reign side by side, and where historical mistakes are recognized and condemned, and contemporary art is proudly presented.

My week-long vacation in this German city was also one of balance, mainly between long, and blurry nights and early, educational days. In other words, it was an immense success, and I would recommend this destination to any adventure-seeking and knowledge-thirsty soul.
